more waiting

I’m still here. Becky is still here. We are still waiting.

We went to see the midwife this morning down at the maternity wing of the hospital. The regularly spaced screaming coming from up the corridor brought the memories flooding back. Our midwife told Becky she may have a few more days yet. Perhaps this is not so bad.

None of this perturbed Bella in the slightest though. We told her, somewhat misleadingly, that it was ”happy” screaming, and that when the baby came Mummy would be doing it too. But in any case she was more interested in asking the midwife to attach the foetal monitor to her stomach to she could listen to ”my baby”. The midwife, ever sporting, set it up so Bella’s heart could be heard quite clearly through the machine.

If we can on the day, we’ll take Bella with us, for as long as she’s happy.
