Cthulhu Lives!

In the absence of other things to blog about, I present this photo that I took a couple weeks ago.

Cthulhu Lives!

I’m not sure what the designers were thinking, back in the ’30s – trying to marry Art Deco and Māori influences? – but there, unmistakeably, is Cthulhu. It’s a wonder the Great Old Ones haven’t consumed Wellington already, with blasphemies like this decorating our buildings.

Presumbly only if Cthulhu has a book to promote, though.

Could you translate that into English? I saw ‘Oprah,’ which I’m guessing prompted the ‘book promoting’ answer, but if this is an actual language, constructed or not, and the comment actually says something, I’d love to know the name of the language and what the comment says. Any help?

Also, Alan, you might want to check your website coding — you have your footer repeating twice, once with a workable search box and once without.

Lila: the language is a made up one – I just did a search for the text in Google to get the translation on this site.

Also, I haven’t been able to reproduce that error – but I’ll keep an eye out.
